This is the original signature of General Edmund Pendleton Gaines, 1777 - 1849, US Army Brevet Major General, principally known for the capture of Aaron Burr, recipient of The act of Congress Gold Medal, The War of 1812, The Black Hawk War, The Seminole Wars, and aiding in the Mexican American War. His namesake is found in many parts of the US, as well as revolutionary markers found all over the south.His signature is very rare, especially one is as good of shape as this one.The paper on which the signature is written measures 4.75" x 1.5". The signature itself is approximately 3" across.
